FAQs
What is GEAR and what is included?
Gemini Agent Ready (GEAR) is Google's AI agent skilling program designed to help builders learn to build and deploy enterprise-grade AI agents.
The program curates Google Skills hands-on labs, resources, and recommendations to help you achieve your goals. As a GEAR member, you receive 35 monthly learning credits to use on Google Skills content.*
*Google Cloud customers and partners can access GEAR content at no-cost via Google Skills for Organizations and Google Skills for Partners.
How do I access the courses and labs once I join GEAR?
Through GEAR, you can access courses and learning paths on the Google Skills. 35 monthly learning credits are applied to your Google Skills account automatically, allowing you to launch any course or challenge lab in the catalog at no cost, directly from the GEAR landing page. To ensure your credits load successfully, use the same email address in Google Skills that you used to sign up for GEAR.
You can also access other resources through GEAR, like step-by-step codelabs, which don't require learning credits.
How do the 35 monthly learning credits work?
When you join GEAR, you receive a monthly stipend of 35 credits to use toward hands-on training on the Google Skills platform.* To access and use these credits, you must be signed in with the same email address you used when signing up for GEAR.
*Google Cloud customers and partners can access GEAR content at no-cost via Google Skills for Organizations and Google Skills for Partners.
How does GEAR relate to the "Get Certified" program?
Anyone can join GEAR and start learning immediately. Get Certified is a specific, application-based cohort within GEAR reserved for employees of Google Cloud customers. You must be a registered GEAR member first before you can apply for a Get Certified cohort.
I completed a GEAR skill badge on Google Skills, but it isn't showing up on my GDP profile. What should I do?
If your completed skill badge is missing, complete these quick checks:
Verify your account email: Ensure you completed the lab using the same account linked to your Google Developer Program profile. Profiles cannot be merged or transferred, so earning a badge under a corporate email will not sync with a profile registered under a personal Gmail.
Check enterprise permissions: If you are using a corporate Google Workspace account, your organization's administrator may need to explicitly enable access to the Google Developers service.
Escalate the issue: If your accounts match, scroll to the bottom of your Developer Profile page and click "Send Feedback" or email support directly at gdp-support@google.com.
How do I join the GEAR Discord?
If you do not have a Discord account, you'll need to create one first at Discord.com. Once your account is created, join the Google Developer Community using https://discord.gg/google-dev-community and click 'Accept Invite'.
Once you're in, you should see the #gear channel in the list of channels on the left. Here you'll be able to join in the conversation.
How do I control what e-mails I receive?
You control the e-mails you receive from the Google Developer Program by visiting the Settings section of your Developer Profile and updating your email preferences.
Who do I reach out to if I have questions about GEAR?
You can send the team an e-mail at: gdp-support@google.com.
