Writing Into the Unknown: A Discovery Writer’s Sudowrite Workflow
Love discovering your story as you write, but aren’t sure how Sudowrite fits into a discovery-writing process?
In this beginner-friendly session, you’ll see a complete Sudowrite workflow starting from scratch. We’ll begin with little more than a story spark, brainstorm until there’s enough to start writing, turn those ideas into a first scene, and explore ways to revise and expand without giving up creative control.
Then we’ll look at how discovery writers can use Story Bible after the writing has already happened—capturing characters, worldbuilding, and chapter information without having to plan everything in advance. We’ll finish with a quick Feedback check to see what the story that emerged might need next.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a practical workflow for going from “I have an idea” to actual pages while letting the story surprise you along the way.
We’ll explore:
brainstorming from a blank page
moving from an idea into your first scene
using Write, Expand, Rewrite, Describe, and Quick Edit as flexible writing partners
keeping track of a story you discovered rather than planned
using Feedback to reflect on what you created and decide where to go next
