Writing Nonfiction: Turn Memories into a Memoir Readers Feel
Registration
About Event
A collection of memories isn't a memoir—yet. Told in order, a life can read like a list of things that happened. What readers want is the story underneath: the thread that turns moments into meaning.
In this Deep Dive, we'll work on finding the meaningful story inside your collection of memories and building a narrative thread to carry it. Then we'll put it into practice by drafting a vivid scene. Along the way, we'll talk about a line every memoirist has to walk: keeping what really happened and what you've imagined or reconstructed clearly distinguished.
You'll leave with a narrative thread for your memoir and a drafted scene that brings one of your memories to life on the page.
