🐛 Fixed offer context being lost during sign-in - #32601
Signing in from an offer modal discarded the offer, leaving existing free members to find the discount link again. The offer’s Sign in button now passes its same-site offer URL through Portal’s existing authentication redirect support, so both magic-link and code sign-in return members to the same offer.
Returning through the normal offer route fetches the offer again and rechecks eligibility. Paid members still receive the active-subscription message, and unavailable offers do not reopen. Regression tests cover both authentication paths, free and paid members, archived and unavailable offers, and a site installed in a subdirectory.
Validation:
Full Portal suite after rebasing onto current origin/main: 874 passed, 1 skipped.
Manually verified magic-link and code sign-in in the Codex browser; user tested the preview.
Repository formatting and lint passed. The test phase of pnpm check was stopped because it slowed the preview; the repository-wide test run did not complete.
Commit hooks passed formatting, ESLint, dependency boundaries, and secret scanning.

I've written an automated test to prove my change works
The offer page now passes an offer URL as the redirect when a visitor selects sign-in. Tests cover magic-link and one-time-code authentication, redirect URL retention, and the portal states shown after authentication for free members, paid members, and unavailable offers.

Explanation
The title says offer context was lost during sign-in and that it was fixed. The changeset makes the offer modal's Sign in button pass the same-site offer URL as the redirect for Portal's authentication flow, so members return to the offer after magic-link or code sign-in. The title names the main change and the bug it fixes.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description states the problem (signing in from an offer modal discarded the offer), the fix (the Sign in button passes its same-site offer URL through Portal's existing redirect support), the expected behavior for free, paid, and unavailable offers, and the regression tests. This matches the raw summary of offer-page.jsx, the sign-in flow tests, and the send-magic-link redirect test.
Full details: New Files Are Typescript
Explanation
The pull request adds apps/portal/test/offer-signin-flow.test.tsx, not a JavaScript source file. The other .jsx and .js files in the diff are pre-existing files modified in place. No new .js, .jsx, .cjs, or .mjs file appears in the authoritative pull-request file inventory. Prior failure addressed: The previously reported new apps/portal/test/offer-signin-flow.test.jsx is replaced by the added apps/portal/test/offer-signin-flow.test.tsx; the current diff contains no newly added JavaScript source file.
Full details: Tooling Ownership
Explanation
The PR changes only Portal application code, a Portal regression test, and a Ghost Core e2e API test. The Portal test is beside Portal sources and is included by its Vitest setup; the Ghost test is beside the related members API tests and matches the test/e2e-api/**/*.test.{js,ts} project. No scripts, shared configuration, or new tooling paths changed, so no ownership or execution-placement problem was introduced.
Full details: Type-Safe Boundaries
Explanation
The prior failure remains unresolved. The changed renderLoginMessage now constructs a redirect from this.context.site.url and this.context.pageData.id at apps/portal/src/components/pages/offer-page.jsx:436-437. site is assembled from api.site.settings() data in apps/portal/src/utils/api.js:98-112 and app.jsx:1045-1079; the offer is taken from GhostApi.site.offer() at app.jsx:1123-1142. These API methods return res.json() without schema validation. The PR adds no boundary validation and does not add a Zod schema. The changed production logic therefore consumes external API-derived fields without validating them first. The new test files do not change this result because tests are excluded by the check.
Resolution
Add a Zod schema at the API boundary for the required site and offer fields, including a valid same-site URL and offer ID. Parse or safely reject invalid API responses before storing them in AppContext. Construct the redirect only from the parsed values. Use z.infer for any corresponding TypeScript types instead of duplicating the schema shape.

The Portal test checks the offer-return flow, but the server boundary that produces the returned redirectUrl has no test for a fragment or a subdirectory. The existing /verify-otc tests use only plain URLs.
Add a /verify-otc test for an offer URL with a fragment and subdirectory.
The Portal test returns its redirect from a mocked verifyOTC, so server redirect handling does not run. The existing /verify-otc tests cover plain redirect values only. A server change that drops the hash or the /blog/ path would not fail any test. The server keeps both parts unchanged, so this case protects existing working behavior.

Check the final authentication redirect.
The new test verifies only the intermediate r parameter. Follow the returned redirectUrl through the sign-in endpoint and assert both that the response preserves the offer fragment and that it establishes the members-ssr session cookie. This covers the cross-layer behavior described by the change, rather than repeating generic cookie assertions from separate sign-in tests.
