A minute and a half of PitLink on the radio in Assetto Corsa Competizione:
PitLink-demo-720p.mp4
Tested mostly on Assetto Corsa Competizione. PitLink reads Competizione's shared memory and Broadcasting API and has done its live laps there. Automobilista 2 and the original Assetto Corsa are wired in and work in testing, but have had far fewer hours. See the roadmap.
A race engineer that sits on your pit wall and talks to you over team radio, like the real thing. It reads your car's live telemetry ten times a second, decides when something is worth a call, phrases it the way an engineer would, and says it in a realistic voice through your headset. Hold a key and talk back: ask about your tyres, your fuel, the gap behind, where you are losing time.
It is not a scripted spotter. He watches the fuel, the tyre temperatures and pressures, the brakes, the damage, the flags, the weather, the stint timer, the cars around you and their pace, and talks when it matters:
- Proactive radio. Radio check at the start, lights out, how the start went, gaps to the cars around you every lap, "he is closing", minutes and laps to go, half distance, two laps to go, last lap, the debrief after the flag.
- Strategy. Fuel per lap and laps of fuel, pit window reminders, your pit menu read back when you enter the lane, wets-or-slicks calls when the rain comes, tyre pressure advice.
- Incidents. Big hits, spins, contact, a car that is stopped on track: "are you OK?" within a second, then a damage report and whether to box.
- Coaching. After one clean lap he compares every lap with your best corner by corner: braking point, apex speed, where you get on the power, how wide you were at the apex, and how the quickest car in your class takes the same corner. Ask him anything about your driving.
- Push-to-talk. Hold a key or a wheel button and ask. Speech recognition runs locally on your PC. "Stay quiet" and "talk to me" work as radio commands.
- Download
PitLink-Setup-<version>.exefrom the latest release. If your browser or network blocks a direct .exe download, takePitLink-Setup-<version>.zipinstead: it is the same installer inside a zip. Unzip it and run the exe. - Run it. Click Next until it finishes. Nothing else is installed; the game is not modified. If Windows shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" box, click More info then Run anyway. If Windows says the app was blocked by Smart App Control, read docs/WINDOWS_SECURITY.md: it takes one minute and explains why.
- The PitLink window opens. Fill in four things: your name, your OpenRouter key, your ElevenLabs key, and your headset if it is not the Windows default. Press Save, then Test voice.
- Start the game, enter a session, press Start with game. He does the radio check when the session goes live.
The full walkthrough with pictures of every step is in docs/INSTALL.md, and everything he can do is in docs/USER_GUIDE.md.
This public build runs on your own accounts, so you need two keys and a voice. It is cheap: about five cents of model usage per hour of racing, and the free ElevenLabs plan is enough to try it.
| Item | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| OpenRouter API key | The engineer's brain: a language model phrases the radio calls and answers your questions | openrouter.ai/keys, add a few dollars of credit |
| ElevenLabs API key | The engineer's voice | elevenlabs.io > profile > API keys |
| ElevenLabs voice ID | Which voice speaks. Any voice in your ElevenLabs account works: one of your own, or one you add from the Voice Library. Paste its ID under "Add voice by ID" | elevenlabs.io > Voices > the voice > ID |
Step by step, with the exact clicks: docs/KEYS.md. Keys stay on your PC, in a file under your user profile. Without an ElevenLabs key the built-in Windows voice is used: it works, it just sounds like a robot.
A hosted PitLink is on the way: USD 10 per month, realistic AI engineer voices ready to go, better performance, and no keys or extra paid services to set up. Install, sign in, race. Watch the releases page for the announcement.
- The numbers are computed, the words are phrased. The model never sees raw telemetry: the detector computes fuel per lap, gaps, trends and corner deltas, and the model only phrases them. It is told never to invent a number, and every call is checked against the live telemetry at the moment it is spoken, so a crash between detection and speech does not leave him saying "P1".
- Urgent calls are instant. Flags, pit limiter, fuel critical, crashes and spins use fixed radio phrases and cut off whatever he was saying. Normal calls wait their turn and respect cooldowns.
- Team radio feel. The voice is normalised to broadcast level and the game's own volume drops to 35 % while he talks, then comes back. Adjustable in the window.
- Private. Telemetry never leaves your PC except as the short text the model needs to phrase a call. Speech recognition is local. A transcript of everything said is kept in your user folder.

| Version | Date | What changed |

| 0.4.0 Beta | 4 Nov 2026 | Realism pass: calls are checked against live telemetry when spoken, urgent calls interrupt, crash / spin / contact / stopped detection with a damage report, lights out and first-lap radio, practice and qualifying updates, gap to pole. Simpler window: ElevenLabs only, voices added by ID |
| 0.3.0 | 4 Nov 2026 | Louder voice (normalised, volume up to 200 %), the game's volume is lowered while he talks |

Feedback is very welcome, good or bad: what the engineer said that he should not have, what he missed, what you would want him to do. Write to javier@replicantresearch.com, or open an issue here. The transcript file (the window log shows its path) is the most useful thing to attach.
