I'm a bioinformatician and evolutionary biologist from Argentina, now based in Valencia, Spain.
Studying bioinformatics gave me strong technical tools, but I soon felt I was missing the biology behind the data. That’s why I did my PhD in evolutionary biology, and why most of what you’ll find here started as a biological question.
During my PhD I assembled the genomes of cactophilic Drosophila, flies that breed in rotting cactus tissue and feed on the yeasts and microorganisms that grow there. Then, as a postdoc, I sequenced three species of cactus moths, whose larvae feed on the commercially important prickly pear and the culturally significant cardón. Field sampling took us across the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northwestern Argentina, including the Pucará de Tilcara.
Since 2024, I've worked in industry: first with a synthetic biology startup developing a protein expression platform in black soldier fly, and now with Cannformatics, a health-tech company in Silicon Valley, building pipelines that test AI-generated hypotheses against clinical and biological evidence.
I have also dedicated a good part of my career to teaching, adapting the same ideas to very different audiences:
- bioinformatics, Python and genomics for university students;
- health informatics, health information systems, digital medical data, handling of sensitive personal information and AI for future health professionals;
- bioinformatics workshops for students and early-career researchers through RSG Argentina;
- generative AI for colleagues at a startup.
This profile is an archive, not a showcase. Some repositories are mature tools; others are early experiments I wrote while learning. I keep both because together they show how I got here.
