Hello,

Does anyone have experience with the Intercom - Telegram connection?

Any insights would help a lot.

Thanks,
Dilara

Hey @dilara.murathanoglu 👋 You’re absolutely right - the Octopods app will allow you to connect Intercom & Telegram!

Just a heads up that this app is created by Octopods themselves, so they will be the best place to reach out to for any further information on the app.

Hi dilara.murathanoglu, It’s Mat from the Support Engineering Team 😀

Intercom does not. have any Telegram integrations.
You might have some luck setting up some automations with Telegram using third party automation tools like Zapier or Make and our API.

What about https://octopods.io/intercom-telegram-integration that is available in the Intercom app store?

Do you have any experience on how it works?

What we need is to follow up on the Telegram communication solely in the Intercom Inbox, so that our team doesn’t have to have the Telegram app open on their screens.

Hello @dilara.murathanoglu  Somewhat late to this one, but adding an update for anyone who finds this thread later.

As @bernice  mentioned, Octopods (I am Octopods co-founder) connects a Telegram bot to Intercom, and that’s still how most teams set it up.

We've since also released Telegram Personal, which connects your own Telegram account instead of a bot.

ustomers keep messaging the same account they already talk to, and your team reads and replies from the Intercom inbox, with replies going out from that account. It covers 1-1 chats and the groups that account has already joined.

Why that can be a better fit than a bot connection (at least what we hear from customers using it):

  • No migration, so basically Telegram bots can’t message someone first, so with a bot your customers have to find and start the new bot before you can talk to them. With Telegram Personal, the conversations you already have just carry on.
  • Customers keep talking to a real account, not a bot, so nothing changes on their side.

  • Groups just work as they do in the app... The account is already a member, so there’s no bot to add to each group or privacy setting to change.

That matches what you described: following Telegram entirely from the Intercom inbox, without anyone keeping the Telegram app open on their screen.

It’s an extra app on top of Intercom, so it does add a cost.

Happy to answer questions here if you’re evaluating it.
