Reporting Volume Alerts

  • It would be wonderful to have a Intercom native feature where you could set up a alert threshhold feature on a chart that informs dedicated stakeholders if the volume was hit (without requiring periodic review).

    Examples might be:

    - If CX score hits X%
    - If conversation volume exceeds X conversations
    - Etc.

We have a lot of busy stakeholders managing multiple different tasks, and things can fall below the radar. But this way you could draw peoples attention, without them having to cut out time daily to review dashboards to check performance across different releases.

Agreed, this would be a great addition. As far as I know there’s no native “alert me when this metric crosses X” on report charts, and the Performance dashboard’s CX Score card doesn’t have one either.

A few native pieces get you part of the way:

  • Per-conversation CX Score alerts: In Fin AI Agent > Workflows, use the trigger “When a conversation receives a CX Score rating”. You can set actions per score (1-5), so something like “score of 1 or 2 → Slack message to your stakeholder channel” works. It’s per conversation, not on the aggregate CX Score %, and it requires the Pro add-on.
  • Volume spikes: Real-time incident detection (Pro) monitors conversation volume per topic against a baseline and alerts you when something spikes, and you can filter alerts by topic to route them to the right team. It’s anomaly-based rather than a fixed “X conversations” number.
  • No-login stakeholder updates: Scheduled report delivery (Reports > open a report > Share > Schedule delivery) emails a snapshot to teammates, roles, or external addresses. It’s cadence-based, not threshold-based, but it means stakeholders don’t have to log in and open dashboards.

For a fixed volume threshold, you’d currently need a small external build. Intercom’s own suggestion is to use the conversation.user.created webhook, count events per time window in a tool like Zapier, Make or n8n, and send a Slack or email alert when it hits your number.
